Discussion about Various - Progressive House
Bluecliff
Surprising nobody has commented on this compilation as it's pretty much genre defining. Progressive? I think it was really about trying to recapture something of the feeling of simplicity and euphoria of many of the original House tracks of the mid to late '80s, but at the same time condense this into something more polished and D.J friendly and inevitably longer for the dancefloor. So gone are the pop derived verse structures to be replaced by something more abstract and techno-like but without the intellectual baggage Techno was starting to acquire around this time. You can of course then see the nascent grooves of trance in here as well....
